What are Tear Trough Fillers?

Dermal Fillers are injected into the tear trough to reduce the appearance of the tear trough and to lighten dark circles. The treatment takes 45 minutes and can last up to 2 years. Hyaluronic acid injections are used, and a cannula is preferred to deliver the product reducing the likelihood of bruising and minimising downtime.

Under-eye rejuvenation treatments help reduce under-eye bags and plump up skin to give you a fresher appearance. Dr Chike Emeagi uses dermal fillers which are strategically administered to the under-eye area, producing results that can make you look more youthful, less tired and give you more confidence in your appearance.

What will your Tear Trough Filler Treatment consist of?

Your treatment will start with an in-depth Medical Consultation with your Doctor. You will be able to discuss any concerns you may have about the procedure, and they will be able to suggest the most effective treatment strategy plan for your particular concerns, and the risks and benefits of any treatment will be discussed at length.

We will carry out a full consultation and take your medical history. This is our opportunity to make sure the treatment is suitable, and your opportunity to tell us about what you would like to achieve with your appearance. We will talk to you about all options, examine your under-eye area, and make sure you are completely comfortable before going ahead.

Tear Trough Filler

Your doctor will administer the filler along the hollow of your tear troughs. A cannula is used to deliver the hyaluronic filler, making it more comfortable. The filler also contains a local anaesthetic to numb the area during treatment – most patients only feel mild, temporary discomfort. The doctor will usually massage the area to make sure the gel filler is evenly distributed.

Instant Results

The treatment will only take around 30 minutes. Results are achieved instantly and your doctor will show you their progress, making sure you are happy and comfortable throughout.

What Are Dermal Fillers Made Of?

At New You Harley Street Hyaluronic Acid (HA) fillers by STYLAGE Dermal fillers are used. This is a synthetic form of Hyaluronic Acid which is a naturally-occurring substance. Tear Trough Filler FAQs

It is important that the  treatment is carried out by  a medically qualified practitioner as this area is anatomically complex. The right dermal filler should be injected and the precise anatomical layer of the skin should be injected to reduce complications.

We use Topical Numbing Cream to dull sensation of needle entry into the skin. The Dermal Filler used will contain local anaesthetic.

You will generally see a difference straight after the treatment. It can take a few days for the side effects to subside, after which you should start to see an even bigger improvement.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are FDA-approved. Common side effects include redness, swelling and bruising, but these tend to ease off after a few days. Rare side effects include infection, scarring, migration (where the filler moves to a different area), vascular occlusion, and blindness (extremely rare and nullified by microcannula use).

They generally last around 6-18 months, but this really depends on the individual and how quickly they metabolise them.  Variability is affected by factors like skin type and age. It is believed that people who exercise frequently tend to metabolise the dermal fillers faster.

This treatment is suitable for many people who have deep depressions in their under-eye area. It is important to book a consultation with a medically qualified practitioner before your appointment as the under-eye area is complex,

Tear Trough Filler is not suitable for individuals who are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive, or for people who have an allergy to lidocaine. Treatment to this area should be avoided if you are susceptible to blood clotting or suffer with keloid scarring.

In the 5 days leading up to your appointment - and the next few days following it - you should avoid ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil and vitamin E as these can lead to bleeding and bruising. Check with your GP or practitioner if you are taking any prescription medication containing aspirin. Please tell your practitioner about any illnesses and Medications/ Supplements that you are taking.
